Replacing a Toyota Key
If you're Toyota key fob has just been damaged there are different options available. If the internal electronics of your Toyota are in good condition the service center can create a new key for a lower cost.
If the case is also damaged, it will need to be replaced. If the case is still intact, try opening it with its hidden key or using a thin pry tool to open the visible notch. Open the case and gently lift the circuit board to reveal the battery.
Keys damaged or lost

Toyota has some of the most advanced keys for cars on the market. They include transponder chips that communicate with the vehicle in order to prevent an unauthorised start and also lock the engine when the incorrect key is used. They also allow you to lock and unlock the vehicle remotely and also start it. However, this extra security comes at a cost - the cost to replace damaged or lost Toyota key could be hundreds of dollars.
You can tell whether your Toyota key has transponder chips by examining the blade of the key. If there is a tiny dot or dimple on one side, or if the key is marked with an 'H' or 'G mark, it is equipped with a transponder. If the key isn't marked at all or has a bump that is large on its top, it's an untransponderized key.
The cost of replacing an old metal key is typically less than $50. Smart Keys
Smart keys can allow you to start your Toyota without ever having to remove your keys from your pocket or purse. Smart keys allow you to store different driver settings and also unlock windows or sunroofs remotely. You could be able to limit the speed of your child using the smart key.

Key Fob Battery Replacement

The first step is to remove the key made of metal from the fob. There's typically a small metal button just above the key portion of the fob. Press this button to release the key. Then, you can disassemble the fob. You can do this by pressing the fob with a small notch that resembles like a keyhole or by inserting a flat tool into the smallest hole on the fob. Once you have the fob split into two pieces, a front and a back--sliding tools into the notch or small opening will allow you to access the battery compartment.

Once you have replaced the battery, take the old battery from its case and place the new one in. Be careful not to contact the flat surface of the battery which are sensitive to fingerprints and can affect the life of the battery.

Key Fob Case Replacement
While Toyota key fobs aren't as easy to lose than normal keys, you could be a bit frightened when they vanish during your Belton and Killeen commute. The first thing you need to do is locate your Toyota keyfob and check whether it is damaged. If the key fob has been completely damaged, you'll need to replace it with an authorized dealer to have the transponder and other electronics programmed into your vehicle. This is more complicated than just a replacement key fob, and will require photo identification and proof of ownership and your vehicle's VIN.
If your key fob is damaged minor damage, you may still be able to use the electronic. It depends on the way in which the key fob was damaged, such as through water or more serious physical damage. Typically, if the concealed key portion has not been damaged, you can have a new one cut at a Toyota service center and use it.
You can open the case of your key fob with a flat tool like a small screwdriver. Insert it into an opening or notch. Once you have opened the case, lift the circuit board (if it is necessary) to reveal the battery inside. Don't force the case open because this could cause electronic components to break. Remove the battery carefully and note how it sits in the case to ensure you can replace the battery properly.
